Style and take better jewelry product photography and shots in three easy steps, with the essential dos and don'ts!
#1 - Creating the composition
For this pieces from Silver + Salt, I tried styling them with both natural and geometric elements for the jewelry product shots. The pieces ended up blended in too much with the natural forms of the rocks, and I found the minimal black and white styling flattered the pieces better by juxtaposing the graphic setting with the softness and simplicity of the pieces.

#2 - Getting the focus
Below is Silver + Salt's Herkimer Diamond Necklace shot both in and out of focus. Getting perfect focus makes a huge difference in showing the sparkle of the diamond as you can see!
However, selective focus can also be a great technique to highlight specific elements of a piece, so don't be afraid to experiment!
#3 - Taking the shot
